Mera McGrew has written a wonderful piece about The Last Reef on the Mission Blue website:
“Through compelling storytelling, riveting music, and awe inspiring images, The Last Reef promises to inspire viewers to act to ensure that the beauty of the reefs highlighted does not vanish and that these critical ecosystems remain intact for future generations.”
What is Mission Blue? Part of the Sylvie Earle Alliance, it’s a website (primarily a blog), that has been ’created to elevate public awareness about critical ocean issues and to inspire support for organizations, projects and initiatives that are making a positive difference for the ocean. Mission Blue is a global initiative formed in response to Sylvia Earle’s 2009 TED Prize wish. Dr. Earle urged people “to use all means at your disposal — films, expeditions, the web, new submarines — to create a campaign to ignite public support for a global network of marine protected areas; Hope Spots large enough to save and restore the blue heart of the planet.”‘
Dr Sylvia Earle is an oceanographer, author, explorer and former NOAA chief scientist, who now tirelessly campaigns for the creation of Marine Protected Areas. Sylvia also has her own blog which is well worth following. We’re proud to be included in the Mission Blue website and add our voice to the network of film-makers, photographers, scientists, fishermen and divers who all agree something has to be done to save our seas…
